Education of Vulnerable Communities | Neya English Project
Education plays an important role in women’s empowerment, as it allows women to respond to challenges, secure a safer future for their children, and improve their living conditions.
A great effort has been made to achieve equal educational opportunities regardless of gender, age, or other differences in status. However, quality education is still not accessible to all groups. Considering the rapid development of technologies shaping every sphere of life, the lack of educational opportunities leaves many people in conditions of professional degradation and without the ability to develop skills essential for a successful life in the modern world.
When considering the empowerment of vulnerable groups with weak socio-economic backgrounds, the need for quality education becomes evident. Yet, due to inequalities in the distribution of technologies, many people remain outside educational opportunities without access to facilities, while non-profit organizations in developing countries turned out to be among the least technologically advanced across many sectors.
The Neya English Project emerged as a response to the needs of the charity sector to implement technological advancements in management and education in order not only to enhance the quality of services provided and optimize management systems, but also to adapt to the fast-changing conditions of COVID-19 pandemic regulations, worldwide lockdowns, and their effects.
As part of the Neya English Project, the E-learning Management System was developed, including English course lessons designed considering the needs of vulnerable women, as well as their level of education and ability to perceive knowledge and communicate in society.
1. PowerPoint presentation lessons, alongside guidance for new volunteers on how to use the system, were developed at the first stage of the project.
2. The web-based platform containing additional materials for studying English, videos, lesson slides, and 65 additional topics for self-education was developed at the second stage of the project.
3. A chatbot designed to simplify navigation and help users quickly learn how to use the platform was developed at the third stage of the project.
Additionally, apart from advancements in education, the management system was also optimized. A new website for The Fountain of Life Women Center Pattaya was developed together with guidance for the staff team on organizing communication channels and news reporting for non-profit and charitable purposes.
A counseling chatbot was also developed to ease the process of information distribution from the center to potential beneficiaries.
Now, women have instant access to all relevant information about the center’s courses and activities, including how to register and receive support.
The chatbot helps register women in an online database in order to monitor their short-term and long-term progress and collect feedback regarding the quality and effectiveness of the services provided.
The chatbot also allows for greater privacy when monitoring the mental conditions of gender-based violence survivors through weekly broadcast messages sent individually to each woman.
Currently, the project is established and remains at the stage of implementation and further development.
