Abstract
Volunteer management is undergoing a profound transformation in the digital era. While volunteers remain the cornerstone of non-profit organizations, the methods by which they are recruited, trained, and retained are shifting rapidly with the adoption of digital systems. This article examines the theoretical and practical dimensions of digital volunteer management, analyzing how technological tools streamline operations, reduce administrative burdens, and enhance volunteer engagement. Using Good Shepherd Services as an illustrative case, the analysis highlights how automation, online training, and real-time tracking reshape management practices and outcomes. The article also explores challenges such as digital literacy, data privacy, and equity of access, especially in low-resource contexts. By integrating theoretical perspectives with practical strategies, this study provides both scholars and practitioners with insights into effective digital recruitment, online training, community-building, and impact assessment. Ultimately, digital transformation offers non-profits opportunities to build more resilient, scalable, and inclusive volunteer systems, provided they adopt approaches that balance efficiency, ethics, and accessibility.
