About the Article
This article critically examines the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as both a normative vision and a practical roadmap for global development. Adopted by the United Nations in 2015, the SDGs reflect an integrated approach to poverty eradication, food security, healthcare, education, gender equality, energy, infrastructure, and climate action.
The discussion explores opportunities and constraints in implementing the SDGs, particularly in developing and emerging economies. Through case evidence—including energy access initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa, urbanization challenges in South Asia, and gender equality reforms in Rwanda—the article highlights progress, persistent barriers, and lessons for localized strategies.
Ultimately, it argues that the SDGs are most powerful when treated as an interconnected framework requiring cooperation across governments, civil society, and private actors. For scholars, they represent a living laboratory of global governance; for practitioners, a set of pragmatic guidelines for designing inclusive and resilient development interventions.

Academic Value
The article contributes to academic debates on global governance and sustainable development by framing the SDGs as both a theoretical and practical paradigm. For academics, it provides analytical entry points into policy diffusion, institutional frameworks, and systemic challenges. For practitioners, it offers evidence-based insights into how the SDGs can guide program design, resource allocation, and evaluation for more equitable and sustainable outcomes.
