About the Article

The role of non-profit organizations is evolving in response to digital transformation, global advocacy networks, and the renewal of grassroots movements. This article explores how NGOs adapt to emerging paradigms such as co-production, commons-based governance, and network collaboration, while balancing professionalism with democratic participation. It analyzes digital mobilization and the rise of platform-based activism, alongside enduring forms of local organizing that sustain legitimacy and community trust. Drawing on examples from global movements like #MeToo and Fridays for Future, the discussion highlights both the opportunities and vulnerabilities of digital and hybrid civil society models. The article concludes that the future of NGOs depends on their capacity to integrate technological innovation with participatory governance, creating flexible, accountable, and resilient forms of civic engagement in an interconnected world.
