Abstract
Privacy policies are critical governance tools for nonprofits that collect and manage volunteer and beneficiary data. In the digital age, organizations must balance operational efficiency with ethical responsibilities for protecting personal information. This Teaching Paper introduces a Privacy Policy Template tailored for nonprofit contexts, including sections on data collection, use, sharing, security, user rights, and updates. Grounded in management theory (Drucker, 1990), strategic accountability (Bryson, 2018), and ethical evaluation (Patton, 2011), the paper explains how privacy policies enhance transparency, foster trust, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. A case study illustrates how one nonprofit strengthened its digital credibility by implementing a privacy policy, while tips and reflection questions guide adaptation across diverse contexts.
