About the Article
Partnerships with local businesses and corporations are a growing necessity for non-profits aiming to achieve sustainability and scale their impact. Yet many organizations struggle to approach potential partners with clarity and professionalism. This Teaching Paper introduces structured tools for building persuasive partnership proposals, including a customizable proposal template, a sponsorship levels and benefits chart, and a letter of intent (LOI) template. Drawing on academic insights from corporate social responsibility (CSR) and cross-sector collaboration, as well as real-world practices, the paper equips non-profits with frameworks that align mission and corporate goals. It offers both educators and practitioners replicable models for initiating, negotiating, and sustaining effective collaborations, strengthening the legitimacy and long-term capacity of non-profits.
