About the Teaching Paper

The effective design of eLearning programs is central to building volunteer capacity in digital environments. Non-profits increasingly depend on user-friendly, affordable, and adaptable digital tools to deliver training at scale. This Teaching Paper introduces a curated selection of eLearning development tools across four categories: content creation, video and animation, learning management systems (LMS), and collaboration platforms. Each tool is briefly described with notes on accessibility, practical application, and cost-effectiveness for non-profits. By combining theoretical insights with applied recommendations, the paper supports organizations in choosing tools that match their context, resources, and strategic objectives. A case study illustrates how one non-profit integrated these tools into a comprehensive digital training system for volunteers. This resource bridges instructional design theory with the realities of non-profit training practice, ensuring organizations can adopt technology-enhanced learning without overwhelming staff or volunteers.
