About the Article

This Teaching Paper examines how digital tools can enhance the efficiency, communication, and impact of non-profit organizations. It provides an overview of essential technologies across six domains—project management, CRM systems, social media, email marketing, data analytics, and affordable technology alternatives. The paper also highlights mobile communication tools such as WhatsApp and SMS systems for outreach in low-connectivity environments. A case study of a grassroots education NGO in Sub-Saharan Africa demonstrates how integrating Trello, DonorPerfect, Facebook, and WhatsApp improved coordination, donor retention, and community engagement. The analysis underscores that technology, when strategically adopted, can strengthen non-profit management and amplify mission-driven outcomes even in resource-limited contexts.

  • Digital transformation in non-profits
  • Project management and CRM systems
