About the Article

Effective partnerships are essential for non-profits to maximize impact, leverage resources, and achieve sustainable outcomes. This Teaching Paper provides structured guidance on formalizing partnerships through standardized agreement templates. By documenting objectives, roles, resource allocation, communication protocols, conflict resolution, and evaluation criteria, organizations can establish clarity and mutual accountability from the outset. Three types of agreements—general, corporate, and community partnerships—are explored, with practical instructions for tailoring each template to specific contexts. A case study of a rural education initiative demonstrates the application of a community partnership template, highlighting benefits and challenges. Reflection questions, tips, and considerations support both academic understanding and practitioner implementation. This resource equips non-profits to systematically plan, implement, and evaluate partnerships, contributing to organizational effectiveness and evidence-based practice.
