About the Article
Digital transformation holds the promise of efficiency, innovation, and resilience, yet organizations face persistent obstacles including resource constraints, skills gaps, legacy systems, resistance to change, and cybersecurity risks. This article examines these challenges across both business and non-profit contexts, with particular attention to emerging economies where infrastructural deficits and low digital literacy magnify barriers. Strategies for overcoming challenges include prioritizing high-impact initiatives, investing in digital literacy, modernizing systems gradually, and implementing robust data security protocols. Case studies illustrate how healthcare and education organizations have safeguarded data, phased out legacy systems, and expanded digital access through partnerships. The analysis underscores that sustainable transformation depends on balancing innovation with operational stability, embedding change management, and leveraging partnerships to bridge structural and cultural gaps.
