About the Article
Social media has transformed how professionals prepare for, engage in, and follow up after conferences. This article examines how platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter (X), Facebook, and Instagram can be strategically deployed to enhance visibility, expand networks, and cultivate professional relationships. It analyzes pre-event engagement through profile optimization, personalized outreach, and participation in online discussions. During conferences, real-time interactions—such as live-tweeting, hashtag monitoring, and sharing multimedia content—extend the reach of insights while strengthening connections with peers and speakers. Post-event strategies, particularly personalized LinkedIn follow-ups and continued engagement with new contacts’ content, sustain relationships beyond the event. Case illustrations demonstrate how participants use event hashtags and visual storytelling to broaden impact and foster collaboration. The article argues that effective social media use requires authenticity, professionalism, and consistency, especially in balancing online visibility with in-person participation. By integrating theory on digital networking with applied strategies, this analysis highlights how social media amplifies the traditional benefits of conference networking and positions professionals for long-term growth.
