About the Article
Public relations and local media engagement are strategic necessities for non-profit organizations seeking visibility, trust, and financial sustainability. This article explores how targeted outreach—through press releases, storytelling, and digital platforms—translates into donor engagement and community credibility. It highlights the role of consistent branding, cost-effective communication, and strong journalist relationships in amplifying non-profit impact. Social media is presented as a critical complement to traditional media, enabling real-time updates and grassroots mobilization. Examples of press releases and social media posts illustrate best practices, while challenges such as media saturation and reputational risk are critically addressed. Positioned within the frameworks of legitimacy and community mobilization, the article demonstrates how PR is a cornerstone of sustainable non-profit fundraising and organizational resilience.
