About the Article

Data collection is the cornerstone of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), directly shaping the accuracy and fairness of resulting models. This article reviews quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches, along with participatory and digital tools such as mobile apps and online survey platforms. Special emphasis is placed on adapting data collection to low-resource settings, where infrastructure and capacity constraints require flexible and ethical solutions. Case studies from healthcare, agriculture, education, and humanitarian aid illustrate the integration of methodologies in practice.
