About the Article
Non-profit organizations in developing countries, low-income economies, and emerging markets play an essential yet often under-supported role in addressing climate change. Despite their proximity to vulnerable communities and ecosystems, these organizations face barriers such as limited resources, knowledge gaps, and unsupportive policy environments. This article examines adaptation and mitigation strategies, positioning non-profits as vital actors in climate resilience and sustainable development. Drawing on IPCC reports and examples from Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, it highlights capacity-building, culturally sensitive engagement, and cross-sector collaboration as necessary conditions for effective climate action. By bridging theory and practice, the article contributes to climate-development scholarship while offering actionable insights for practitioners.
