About the Article
Big data analytics offers transformative opportunities for organizations, yet challenges such as data quality, infrastructure costs, skill shortages, security, scalability, and cultural resistance often impede adoption. This article critically examines these obstacles and outlines strategies to overcome them, including robust data governance frameworks, open-source and cloud-based technologies, workforce training, and structured change management. Attention is given to the unique barriers faced in developing economies, such as connectivity issues, regulatory constraints, and cultural factors, with context-sensitive solutions proposed. Case studies from cybersecurity, startups, corporate strategy, and non-profit operations illustrate effective practices for building sustainable and impactful analytics systems. By integrating governance, technology, and organizational strategies, the article provides a roadmap for establishing scalable, secure, and inclusive big data practices.
