About the Article
Non-profit organizations (NPOs) are indispensable actors in advancing climate action, particularly in low-income and vulnerable regions. Yet their work is constrained by financial instability, limited technical expertise, political barriers, and difficulties in sustaining partnerships. This article analyzes these structural challenges while identifying strategies for strengthening NPO effectiveness. It highlights diversified funding models—including climate finance, impact investment, and crowdfunding—capacity-building through training and partnerships, and advocacy for enabling policy environments. Case examples such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), and innovative public-private partnerships demonstrate how financial innovation and international cooperation expand opportunities for non-profits. The article concludes that, despite barriers, NPOs can scale their impact through institutional strengthening, collaborative action, and strategic engagement, reinforcing their role as key agents in global climate governance.
