Capacity building is a cornerstone of sustainability and effectiveness in the non-profit sector. This article explores conceptual foundations and practical frameworks of capacity building, analyzing individual, organizational, and systemic models. It outlines steps for developing capacity-building plans, including needs assessments, SMART objectives, activity design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Case studies from Rwanda, Kenya, Indonesia, India, and the Philippines illustrate how these frameworks are applied across health, education, environment, women’s empowerment, and disaster resilience.
