About the Article
This article explores the strategic and contextual complexities of advocating for women’s rights in religious communities. It analyzes the interplay of theology, culture, and economics in shaping gender equity and highlights education, leadership engagement, coalition-building, and legal frameworks as key advocacy strategies. Case studies from India, Brazil, Pakistan, the United States, Nigeria, and South Africa illustrate how advocacy initiatives—ranging from social media mobilization to legal reform—can successfully advance women’s rights. The findings demonstrate that effective advocacy requires theological legitimacy, cultural sensitivity, and international legal grounding.
