Abstract

In the non-profit sector, success cannot be measured solely by financial performance; it must also reflect mission-driven outcomes and societal impact. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) serve as essential tools for translating strategic objectives into measurable results. This paper explores frameworks for selecting meaningful KPIs, balancing quantitative and qualitative metrics, and integrating measurement systems into daily organizational practice. By aligning indicators with mission priorities and stakeholder expectations, non-profits can ensure greater accountability, improve decision-making, and strengthen long-term strategic success.

Keywords: non-profit strategy, performance measurement, KPIs, strategic planning, impact evaluation, accountability, data-driven decision-making

Abstract

This article critically examines the limitations of traditional, linear strategic planning in non-profit organizations and introduces a shift toward adaptive, participatory practice. It argues that rigid, top-down models often fail in dynamic socio-economic contexts and that sustainable social impact requires a planning approach rooted in flexibility, inclusivity, and continuous learning. Drawing from real-world case studies, the paper proposes a framework where strategic plans are living, iterative documents co-created with stakeholders and regularly adjusted based on contextual changes and feedback loops.

Strategic planning; adaptive strategy; participatory approach; non-profit management; stakeholder engagement; iterative evaluation; social impact.
